I am in untrained artist based in Louisville Kentucky.
My practice is rooted in film and other forms of familiar media. I am particularly drawn to Americana of the 1930s-1960s. Most of the things depicted in my work act as a personal mythology. I was naturally drawn to films as a child due to isolation, and spent majority of my time consuming them. My work aims to address the intersection of media and society. The way we as a society consume so many things that are somewhat hurtful and essentially immoral have always interested me. I treat my compositions like a film still, as I am isolating particular imagery in a confrontational manner. While the imagery I choose can be seen as outdated and sensational, there is still this over-looming notion of nostalgia and familiarity.
