Precious Lands

Photographed during my second olive harvest in Kour, northern Lebanon, this ongoing series documents the rhythms of a centuries-old tradition and the people who dedicate themselves to preserving it.

Among the centenarian trees, I found myself drawn to the quiet details: hands sorting olives, morning light filtering through the haze, and Arabic ballads filling the air. Returning to document different aspects of the harvest has deepened my appreciation for the land and the people who care for it. This year, the experience felt especially poignant, as many in southern Lebanon were unable to harvest their own olives amid the ongoing Israeli occupation.

To witness this tradition continue, especially as others are cut off from theirs, was a reminder of all that is at stake in preserving our relationship with the land.
