In Japan, society has long conditioned individuals to conform to strict cultural norms, particularly in public spaces. These norms, shaped by race, gender, history, and economic factors, dictate how one should behave, dress, and interact. We internalize these unspoken rules, and they influence the way we move, the way we present ourselves, and the way we connect with others. The fear of standing out or being judged leads to a collective shrinking, where our true selves are hidden beneath layers of societal expectations.
This project seeks to disrupt these ingrained behaviors by using models adorned in extravagant clothing that defies traditional norms. Through their bold and unapologetic presence, these models challenge the conventional expectations of how people are supposed to behave in public spaces in Japan.
