Juan-Pablo Villacura (b. 1986) is a Chilean painter living and working in Germany. He studied art at the University of Chile and is currently a student at the Kunstakademie Münster. His practice moves between abstraction and figuration, exploring the instability of the image through layered painterly processes. Villacura works with active grounds, disrupted spatial structures, and fragmentary figures, allowing painting to oscillate between construction and erosion. Central to his work is the search for a unified pictorial energy, where disparate elements are held together through tension, rhythm, and material presence rather than narrative coherence.
