Sailing Innocence

Sailing Innocence
Oil on canvas, 50 x 60 cm

Some memories never fade from childhood, like the innocence of folding paper boats, setting them afloat and watching them drift into tiny streams. Each boat carried our laughter, our dreams, and that quiet wonder of believing they might actually sail to faraway lands. Looking back now, I think joy really doesn't need much. Just a stream, a folded piece of paper, and a little bit of faith.

This piece came out of that feeling more than any one memory. I painted it in oil on a 50 x 60 cm canvas, and I wasn't trying to recreate a moment exactly, more the emotion of it. Childhood comes back to us like that sometimes, not as clear facts but as a kind of warmth mixed with a little ache for something we can't fully get back.
