Submission Painting

SEEN

SEEN is an ongoing participatory portrait project I’ve been developing over the past five years.

It began with one question:
What does it mean to feel seen?

Since then, more than 250 people have shared personal reflections on identity, belonging, grief, resilience, joy, and hope. Each reflection is paired with an original portrait, creating a growing archive of lived experience.

The newest chapter, SEEN Vol. 5, includes 50 new portraits and 50 new stories and opens in Portland OR July 31st, 2026.

I’ve always believed portraiture can be more than a likeness, it can become a place where people recognize themselves in someone else’s story.
