The series is inspired by Le Penseur by Rodin. I transformed the statue into an object(itself), a human and an animal (a cat), all in a similar posture, forming a delicate coincidence.
I used a similar shooting and composition technique in the series. I placed them in moving and fast-changing streets. I used a low shutter speed to show the flowing crowds and cars, forming a contrast of stillness and movement. Besides, they were dark while the crowds and cars were bright in the photo, forming a strong contrast in light and shade. I also used a low saturation to let viewers immerse themselves in pure contrast.
By using these two contrasts, I wanted to explore the modern meanings of Le Penseur. I thus criticized the impetuous and impulsive modern society, and made the viewers rethink the importance of deep thinking.
