Anatolian Lions is an ongoing painting series rooted in the symbolic language of Anatolian carpets, kilims, folklore, and ancient visual traditions.

Across Anatolia, woven motifs have long carried meanings beyond decoration. Animals, horns, eyes, stars, trees, and geometric signs have been used as symbols of protection, fertility, transition, danger, memory, and spiritual continuity. In many local beliefs and esoteric narratives, certain figures were also understood as guardians placed between the visible and invisible worlds.

In this series, the lion becomes one of these threshold figures. I approach it as a guardian, a carrier of memory, and a symbol that moves between myth, ritual, domestic objects, and contemporary painting.
