Snap-Tag

I’m Chen-Wei Chang, a photographer based in Taipei, Taiwan. My practice explores movement, chance, and randomness through diaristic snapshots.

During my exchange semester in Stuttgart, Germany, I started a project called Snap-Tag. The idea is simple: Imagine laser tag, but with p&s cameras. Cameras are guns, film is ammunition, and players shoot until their 36 frames run out.

I organized games in different locations, hand out cameras and film, then curated the resulting images. By building chance into the process, Snap-Tag asks: Can remarkable photographs emerge without careful composition? How much of an interesting image is shaped by pure accident?

What began as an experiment in surrendering photographic control became a social event and an accidental portrait of the people around me.
