Artwork disappears when someone points a smartphone at it

For Your Eyes Only is an interactive installation by Ralf Lambie and Gera Pronk that explores what happens when looking becomes capturing.

The artwork is displayed inside a freestanding glass case. When someone points a smartphone at it, the glass turns opaque and the artwork disappears from view for everyone in the room. Once the smartphone is pointed away, the work becomes visible again.

The project originated from a simple observation: increasingly, the act of documenting an experience influences the experience itself. One person's attempt to capture a moment changes what everyone else can see.

Rather than prohibiting photography, the installation creates a temporary situation in which looking and capturing cannot coexist. > https://youtube.com/shorts/3Z_SRrtufd8
