Sorrow Is All The Pain Of Love

In the photographic essay (2010 – ongoing), Oliver Raschka explores how personal traumas of serious illness and burnout manifest visually. In essence, the project deals with the fear of loss and pain in the search for one’s own identity. The photographs serve as a kind of symbol for the memories of events and emotional states based on individual incidents. The process of transforming past traumas is carried out photographically in a more universal nature, which allows these personal memories to be experienced individually by the viewer. The deepest suffering caused by sorrow for one's own life and family is hidden in what we love the most. For Oliver Raschka, the ongoing work promotes a constructive and positive therapeutic confrontation with serious events.
