This project is about my family, but specifically my late father. His own father was not a part of his life and as such his parenting methods as a dad were sort of the product of his own learned experience. On his birthday in 2010 he was diagnosed with two rare forms of cancer and for the next decade of his life he tried to beat it. He passed in January of 2020, just before the onset of the COVID pandemic, which spurred me to more consciously assess the images I had made of my (and my family's) experience throughout his illness. This project attempts to visualize grief and loss as well as honor the person that my father was to me and many others. Daddy issues.
