Submission Painting

Storms

Painting is a practice; an outlet to release intuitive energy and let go of preconceived notions or self-imposed rules about how I interpret and portray the world. Using palette knives, sharp edged tools, and brushes, I create a three-dimensional surface on the canvas; always striving to create a balance between the layers of impasto and the underlying surface. As a “Third Culture Kid", I grew up overseas, lived in multiple countries, one of which was Beirut, Lebanon in the midst of the civil war in the 70’s. I saw violence and lived in fear. The one thing that appeared to remain peaceful was the landscape, specifically the horizon. The landscape is still and escape for me, and my “practice" is restorative as I create what I call “inward landscapes.”
