February 2025. Across from the Brazilian hypermarket Super Bom lies a vacant lot. Caravans weathered by time, bicycles resting on the ground, laundry drying beside a half-filled inflatable swimming pool. On the opposite side of the lot stands an imposing blue big top, deliberately visible from afar across the city.
In a seaside town in the state of Rio de Janeiro, the travelling circus Big Brothers Cirkus has set up camp for a month, offering children and adults a chance to dream.
As I explored the behind-the-scenes reality of this life on the margins, I spent four days with the troupe, accompanied by my camera, which served above all as a pretext for opening a door into their world.
I became interested in the intimacy of this community, capturing portraits of its performers.
This project will be exhibited in 2027, Paris.
