This series explores sentinal trees of the Kananaskis region of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. Surviving avalanches, powerful winds and frigid temperatures, these trees are a testiment to the resilience of nature in harsh conditions. I search for these trees every winter. Sometimes they are completely covered but they persist by luck or by a very small survivable footprint within a powerful landscape.
