I’ve lived in Australia for 3 years, and abroad for 8. Being Russian has never been a significant part of my identity and I always wanted to be a ‘citizen of the world’. But there’s that deep part of my soul that often chooses to play Tschaikovsky over Bach, googles how to buy a classic Russian novel in Sydney, and longs to go see Nutcracker ballet when Christmas decorations begin to pop up all over the city.

To connect to that part of me, to the love of the classic Russian culture, I got inspired to make this piece. As you might have guessed, it’s “Swan Lake”.
