I began my visual art practice in 2024 in pursuit of greater creative agency, autonomy, and authorship. Before developing my practice, I often struggled to process my experiences and articulate what I felt or believed.
Working primarily with tufted textiles, I create figurative compositions informed by personal experiences and my love for cinema, literature, and popular culture. Self-portraiture has become central to my practice, a way of holding a mirror to myself and making my thoughts and emotions tangible and legible. By using my own likeness, I hope to create imagery and build compositions that speak to the collective experiences of our time.
Above all, I want to mean what I say through my art, and encourage others to feel safe enough to do the same. Prior to starting my art practice, I seldom felt safe enough to do so.
