The Doomsday Clock

For the past few years I have been working on a series of "Historical Surrealist" paintings about the Doomsday Clock.
What is the Doomsday Clock?
Created in 1947, "The Doomsday Clock is a design that warns the public about how close we are to destroying our world with dangerous technologies of our own making. It is a metaphor, a reminder of the perils we must address if we are to survive on the planet." (Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists)
My approach has been to look into major events for each year since the inception of the Doomsday Clock and create an image based on those events. I refer to my work as "historical surrealism" because I create with the idea of portraying concrete models of irrationality. An idea put out by the second wave of surrealism in the 1920s & 30s.
