The High Priestess/Oculim

Inspired by the archetype of the High Priestess, the piece draws from ideas of intuition, hidden knowledge, mystery, and the things we sense before we can explain them. The eye becomes both observer and portal. Something that watches but also seems to look back. It asks a simple question: What are you able to see when you stop looking for an answer? The work is also an exploration of motion. I wanted the imagery to feel as though it is constantly shifting, almost caught between frames, where one moment bleeds into the next. Rather than depicting movement literally I became interested in how color, repetition, distortion and form can create the sensation that something is moving just beneath the surface. There is an occult quality to it, but I didn’t want it to feel like a textbook illustration of mysticism.
