THE LIVING GODS

My artist name « RUPTUR » reflects a desire to break with convention, to shake
up forms and perceptions.
The project « THE LIVING GODS » is an observation about today’s society, one
that worships certain representations of consumer products and tends to
elevate to the rank of divinity icons representative of the brands it adores.
I fused iconic representations of Ancient Egypt with references to pop culture
and the cult of brands to highlight the troubling parallels between these two
worlds.
It’s this anachronistic juxtaposition between the cult of the Pharaohs and the
adoration of modern consumer icons that I want to highlight in my work.
The use of noble materials such as Black Granite, Marble and 24 carat Gold
leaf gives these tablets a refined, extravagant aesthetic.
