Dian Yi is a technical artist based in Jersey City, New Jersey, specializing in high-fidelity environment art and immersive world-building for games. Her practice focuses on liberating artistic expression from technical constraints within the AAA game pipeline. This work, the "Mirror Cave", is a result of her work at Electronic Arts (EA) for the critically acclaimed title Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, released in 2023. To ensure a unique visual signature within the game's universe, Dian hand-sculpted the stalactite formations from scratch, allowing for a rhythmic, spiral flow that guides the viewer’s eye through the subterranean space. By merging these bespoke sculpts with dynamic ivy growth, she creates a sense of "living history" that captures nuanced atmospheric details and emotional weight within the environment.
