The Morning After
In India, food accompanies almost every significant moment.
We cook when we celebrate. We cook when we grieve. We cook when family arrives and when they leave. We cook for festivals, for gatherings, for milestones, and for mourning. Food finds its place in our lives again and again, quietly marking moments both ordinary and extraordinary.
These photographs were made the morning after.
The morning after what remains deliberately unresolved. A beginning. An ending. A celebration. A loss. A decision. A return.
Perhaps that is what food has always offered: not just nourishment, but a way of moving through joy, grief, uncertainty, and love without needing to explain any of it.
The morning after belongs to no single story.
It belongs to all of them.
