My creative practice boldly reimagines mythologies and folklore about women to by deconstructing and reconstructing these stories through a feminist and cross-cultural Asian lens. My work sits at the intersection of various identities-- it is in direct conversation with contemporary Asian artists such as CLAMP, Yoshitaka Amano, and the contemporary guo hua (国画) movement while also interacting with older art
movements that were heavily inspired by Asian art, namely Art Nouveau-- specifically
Klimt and Mucha. Through my work, I seem to help define a new mythology for Asian
mythology by reclaiming age-old myths from China and Asia from a white and male lens.
Through a mixed media approach which combines the romanticism of watercolors and the
precision of color pencils, I seek to radically old mythology for the women of today.
