These photos were taken on a trip to the site in 2016 to explore the impermanence of manmade environments. Initially an accident, the Salton Sea became an ecological experiment in American Resort culture and a model of its consequences. Now mostly abandoned because of the region's infertility and salinity, the Salton Sea serves as an example of environmental impermanence, fragility, and misunderstanding.
