I took this photo of my friend John soon after he returned from the UK, where he studied abroad for almost an entire year. He was gone for a semester and came home to spend the holidays with friends and family before resuming his studies for yet another. The brownstone where he lived had a passage that led onto the roof and allowed us to shoot there.
