Submission Painting

The Walk

My work highlights the beauty in quiet, ordinary moments. I am driven to capture everyday life through bright colors and lively narratives that explore themes of community, nature and the way identity is shaped by our surroundings. My focus on genre paintings is inspired by daily observations of my community in Queens and the working people that live in it. By using a vibrant color palette, the attention is set on people who are often overlooked, illustrating their dignity and reminding the audience of the integrity in their labor. Whether it’s a portrait of a person from the community or a scene illustrating a neighborhood’s landscape, I aspire to capture identity and personality, both in people and places.
