The Weight of Memory

My photography series explores the thin line between the physical weight of objects and the ephemeral nature of time. Heavily inspired by 17th-century Dutch and Flemish master painters, I construct visual narratives where everyday items—aged apothecary bottles, traditional low-fired black-burnished ceramics, and weathered artifacts—transcend their utilitarian origins to become monumental symbols of memory.
Working with large- and medium-format film cameras allows me to introduce precise optical tilts and shifts, drawing the eye toward tactile details while allowing the surrounding space to gently dissolve. The lighting relies entirely on the chiaroscuro technique—a singular, directional source that carves forms out of deep shadow.
