Submission Painting

Through the veil

I make paintings and drawings that open onto a world adjacent to ours, staging natural environments where flora holds attention and time feels displaced. Quiet phenomena appear as subtle glows—small pockets of energy that move through the composition as signs another order is present. Figures remain central but their faces are withheld, so the body becomes a vessel rather than a portrait and we witness a realm that brushes ours while keeping its rules obscured.

Landscapes across Mexico inform this sense of place, but the aim is a terrain that is grounded and open. I layer translucent acrylic with soft pastel so forms hover between apparition and fact and color shifts with the room. I think of the work as field notes from a neighboring realm, recorded without certainty, so meaning arrives as the painting’s world meets the viewer
