This series features the work of Ikebana artist Toru Watarai and Bonsai artist Kunio Kobayashi at their home studios in Japan. I spent the day at each of their studios watching them work and documenting their process. They both have a strong intuition of finding rhythm in nature in unexpected ways. The way a twisted branch spreads or a leaf grows all fit together to create a powerful atmosphere. It's this atmosphere that I hoped to catpure in the photographs.
