*Unsettling Normality* is a series of narrative illustrations inspired by the short stories in Mariana Enríquez’s collection *Los peligros de fumar en la cama* (*The Dangers of Smoking in Bed*). The work explores how the strange and disturbing can emerge from ordinary spaces, transforming familiar scenes into moments of tension and ambiguity.

Combining expressive textures, bold colours and a distinctive visual language, the series translates the unsettling atmosphere of Enríquez’s fiction into images that invite the viewer to look beyond the surface..
