Submission Painting

Wait – Sand-based medium, acrylic and gold leaf on canvas.

My practice is a sustained inquiry into the relationship between gold, light and perception. I build my surfaces slowly, layer upon layer, until they acquire a relief of their own: a terrain in which gold leaf is not ornament but an active element, shifting with the movement of light and entering into dialogue with shadow, depth and colour. I am drawn to this threshold between what is visible and what is still emerging, and to the time it asks of the viewer.
