What Settles in the Light

What Settles in the Light uses oral histories and photography to explore how catalysts emerge—not as singular moments but through accumulated choices. Through conversations with Vice-Chancellor's Award recipients, the project traces journeys from origin to impact: Professor Steve Strand addressing inequalities he once faced, Dr Samina Khan transforming access for communities told Oxford "isn't for them," the We Are Our History team reckoning with colonial legacies. Each portrait becomes a triptych—details of their work, spaces of impact, the individuals themselves—mirroring how we encounter research through its effects before meeting those who initiated change.
