“When I look at my life and its secret colors, I feel like bursting into tears” is a series of photographs taking into account how my perspective has changed having gone through cancer. Having an intimate experience with death going into my 30s forced me to confront my own mortality, affecting my outlook, which, in turn, affected how I see things photographically. Throughout the making of this project, I had synchronistic experiences that reflected my current emotional state, helping me gain a deeper understanding of myself and where I find meaning. The images made and selected are ones that reflect how embracing death has brought about a greater appreciation of life.
