When You Live in a Small Place" is a conceptual documentary photography project realized between 2024 and 2025. It explores, within the Republic of San Marino and its surrounding hinterland, the ambiguous relationship between living in a small, provincial environment. The limited opportunities for success and the challenge of dealing with an alienating world of work, which often doesn't correspond, for most of one's life, to a true passion or vocation, create a sort of vicious cycle, a blurred line between the regret of not having tried and the disappointment of not having succeeded.
There is a solution, however. The distinction between superficiality and talent (or ability) can somehow lead to success, or various types of success. Succeeding is possible, and so one wonders if the limit isn't the place, but the people.
