"with mom" is an embroidered replica of my childhood drawing. That drawing
portrays my mom and me in front of a red-blue pill-like house. The way 4-year-old
me describes the mother-daughter relationship here astonishes me. Making her
carry big boobs, wear high heels and a dull skirt suit reveals a mom stereotype I
formed somehow or a desire I have for a kind of mother. From where I arrived
and stand now in our relationship, this piece's been healing and soothing for me
and implicitly for us, my mom and me. I completed the work right after she visited
me in Philly this February.
