wobbler I paint men. Men alike, but also different: awkward, proud, damaged and funny. Bald heads, moustaches and faces that feel familiar without ever becoming traditional portraits.
Humour runs through the work, but so does sadness. I’m interested in the gap between how someone presents himself and whatever might actually be happening underneath.
Recent paintings bring that question into the digital world. Screens, glitches, avatars, algorithms and artificial intelligence now shape how we communicate, perform and understand who we are. My work sits somewhere between those systems and the physical act of painting: oil and spray paint meeting images that can be copied, compressed, altered and multiplied.
