Your Heart Specimen is an interactive installation examining the unstable bond between the human body and digital devices. A handmade heart is suspended within a black wooden frame, remaining inert until a viewer places a smartphone on its surface. Once wireless charging begins, the heart starts to pulse, animated by the same electricity that sustains the device.
The work considers the phone not merely as a tool, but as an apparatus that produces and mediates emotion: anxiety, comfort, loneliness, anger, and connection. Exposed cables and the power source form an artificial lifeline, recalling blood vessels outside the body. By making the viewer’s phone necessary for activation, the piece converts everyday technological dependence into a bodily experience.
