Born in 1990 in Vallejo, California, I started shooting film at 17 with my uncle's Canon AV-1 which he gifted me after learning I was taking a course in high school. Fast forward a decade that I lived in Beijing teaching English, and you will find me back in the same room that I had abandoned that broken camera in a past life. For I had broken in the decade since but the reunion rekindled something within. I decided then and there to make the better choice for once and in doing so rediscovered hope. and the understood reasons behind why I had lost it.
I work with film because it is both mystical in its impact, and functional in its utility. Even the blind can feel a photograph and the mute be heard.
It is a leviathan. But holy moly these cameras today! Life is grand now, and I try and help others see it that way too.
