Berna Ay (b. 1992, Bursa) is an artist whose practice explores the relationship between humans and their environment, particularly through the psychological and physical effects of climate change on human health. She makes visible the psychosomatic effects of environmental transformations through sketches, drawings, animations, and poetry.
Working with a minimalist and free visual language, Ay’s practice often focuses on the relationship between figures and elements of nature. Recurring images such as plants growing from heads, eyes, or mouths become symbolic counterparts to allergic reactions triggered by environmental factors. Through these images, her work approaches climate anxiety with a subtle and tender irony.
