The experience of being a woman is shaped by others’ constant gaze. Being watched, judged or interpreted influences our identity and how we relate to a world where that gaze is increasingly constant. My work develops within this space of negotiation.
I work in oil, a medium that gives me time to observe, construct and let images emerge. I create scenes where ambiguity takes hold and a detail disrupts the reading, prompting questions.
The gaze is central to my work. It evokes judgment, surveillance, the desire to be seen, and how we look at ourselves. I sometimes use my own image as a model—not to make a self-portrait, but to create a presence that feels closer, more accessible and less idealised.
My paintings bring softness and unease together to spark curiosity. I invite viewers to look anew at women’s intimate spaces.
