Colette Zighelboim is a multi-disciplinary artist who works within photography, image to object based work, and installations. She is interested in how photography as a medium intersects with power, institutionalization, and gendered spaces. Within the process of making, she likes to question the terms of art and how they can be bent, broken, or even played with. Zighelboim enjoys the gesture of interaction that occurs before the image is even made. For her, the initial thrill to create often emerges from recontextualizing objects that she sources or finds in mass-produced spaces.
