My work explores moral decay and shifting cultural ideologies through traditional narratives, including folk tales and aphorisms. I consider how these forms transmitted communal knowledge and moral values, and how their role is changing as moral instruction moves into digital media. I am interested in whether this shift, detached from human interaction, may dilute the meaning and social function of messages. My paintings reflect concerns about the influence of a hyper-technological world on empathy, morality and human connection. Technique is central: layered, indirect methods informed by the Old Masters, including imprimatura, grisaille and glazing, create a tension between historical craft and contemporary digital excess. The work asks how values are formed, transmitted and transformed.
