Jason Contangelo (b. 1992) is a North Tonawanda, NY based visual artist working predominantly in the realms of photography and poetry. He produces photographic works in a variety of mediums, both digital and analog, along with hand-written visual poetic works on paper. His work is highly focused on theology, philosophy, and mysticism, especially when they pertain to the nature of the image and the Real. He often employs archetypal forms of nature, the self and the human body in order to examine this existential concept of truth. A graduate of the University of Michigan and the North American Lutheran Seminary, he is currently pursuing his MFA from the University at Buffalo.
