My practice operates at the nexus of painting, video, intermedia and light installation. In my work and in my research I create connections between phenomenology, technology, and feminist theory to explore aspects and properties of human emotion such as love and longing.
joy holds an MFA from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
She lives and works in Oakland, California where she teaches painting and hosts a free painting community via zoom @community.painting.club
She is also actively creating a jungle in her apartment made entirely out of houseplants and crystals.
