Sarvagya J. Nair is an interdisciplinary artist based in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, India. He holds a BFA from Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, and an MVA from the University of Hyderabad.
Working across portraiture, installation, found materials, photography, film and performance, Nair explores identity, memory, labour, belonging and systems of visibility. His portrait practice focuses on distorted and fragmented faces, questioning how we recognise ourselves and others. Through Strangers Within, he examines the unfamiliar aspects of identity that exist beneath the visible face, where memory, emotion and experience continuously reshape the self.
His work has been exhibited and screened across India and internationally, including Italy, Vietnam, the Philippines, Australia and the United States.
