In his series “Breathers”, photographer Jon Feinstein documented trees and their relationship to a developing landscape, after moving from New York to the Pacific Northwest. One of the reasons for the move was the early onset of his mother-in law’s Alzheimers, to be there as her memory was vanishing. For Feinstein, the trees in this series served as “listeners, breathers, emotional guardians that have witnessed generations of change”.
