Booooooom TV Best of the Week: Music Videos, Short Films & Animation

A round-up of our favourite videos featured on Booooooom TV. This week’s selection includes a variety of captivating work, from the beautifully strange and fittingly festive, to a definite contender for best documentary in the upcoming 2018 Boooooom TV Awards

Aloe – “Cuándo Será”

Directed by Hernán Kacew of Buenos Aires-based Pantera & Company, the video for Aloe’s “Cuándo Será” follows performance artist Margarita Molfino as she moves through the periphery of an unfamiliar setting filled with equally unfamiliar inhabitants.

“Tam Tam – Outside the Lines” by Greg Hackett

A beautiful portrait of a young Italian basketball team and how their desire to compete raises larger issues of belonging for those denied automatic citizenship in the country in which they were born. Directed by Greg Hackett of UK-based Spindle.

Josh Pan – “Take Your Time”

Love the deadpan oddness of this video for Josh Pan’s track “Take Your Time” by Los Angeles-based director Daniel Henry.

Angry Dan’s “Let’s Play Scrabble: A Twisted Christmas Tale”

A delightfully festive rant from poet and street artist Angry Dan. Directed by London-based filmmaker Thomas Rosser, “Let’s Play Scrabble” features a five-minute rhyming monologue, masterfully delivered in a single take by Sam Rix (of storytelling troupe Embers Collective).
