A selection of recent work by Stamford, Connecticut-based Iranian artist Arghavan Khosravi (previously featured here). Using her visual art practice as a vehicle for cultural transformation, Khosravi’s 3D paintings take a conscious look at how the value system transmitted through iconography in ancient Persian miniatures continues to shape Iranian gender politics today. With an MFA in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design, she has participated in numerous exhibitions and residencies, and been the recipient of the Joan Mitchell Foundation’s Painters & Sculptors Grant and the Walter Feldman Fellowship.
