Call to Submit: New Booooooom Photo Book “Magic Hour II”

Calling all photographers! We’re excited to announce an open call to submit images to our next photo book, Magic Hour II. If you’re not familiar with the term, “Magic Hour” is that period after sunrise or before sunset where the light is soft and has a warmer colour temperature than usual (also referred to as “golden hour”).

The Magic Hour theme has been a through line in Booooooom’s history. From making some Magic Hour Photo Club hats and our first Magic Hour zine, to diving headfirst into the world of publishing photo books. In the years since our first Magic Hour book many people have asked whether this theme would ever come back, so we are thrilled to announce the return of Magic Hour with a brand new photo book! The image above is from the cover of our first book, by photographer Arielle Bobb-Willis.

This is a call to submit your best photos shot during “Magic Hour”. We can’t wait to see what you’ve captured over the last few years!

Our first Magic Hour book featured images from over 60 photographers and our goal is to feature even more this time. If you want to see some more spreads, or get a better idea of what type of work we are looking for, you can see a bit more of the first one  here.

If you’re a member of our community and would like to be considered for inclusion in this publication, you can submit your own photos using the link below! Anyone whose images are selected for the book will receive a free copy of it when we release it!

IMPORTANT STUFF:

  • You may submit up to 5 JPG images per submission (and you can submit as many times as you like but remember quality over quantity!)
  • Maximum size to upload: 2500 x 2500 px (images do not need to be square, these are simply the max height and width so we aren’t opening thousands of massive files)
  • If you are selected, we will contact you for high resolution images
  • Format for naming your files: FIRSTNAME_LASTNAME_01.jpg
  • Use the button below to submit
