Sleep without dreams mimics the void of death. Dreams are a vital sign of life. I fear that without dreams, all hope is extinguished. Crave Nothing is the result of pursuing the relationship of the landscape with the psychological effects of memory and desire. Traversing both the physical land and the psychical space of memory, their interwoven relationships become more entangled through my making of this project. The staggering gate of a sleepwalker caught in their dreams, lost in the waking world reflects my strife as I attempt to orient myself personally. I seek to take charge of the belief in the creative force of the dream while gaining control over over my passage through it. An exhibition at the Davison Art Gallery, Roberts Wesleyan University, Rochester, NY. Opening reception Nov. 20-Feb. 5th. Insta: @jessegwilliam.photo
